How To Install Our Aluminium Box Gutters
Fixing
Our aluminium Box Guttering lengths are supplied pre-drilled at 600mm centres, for direct fixing to fascia boards, using our austenitic stainless steel screws and washers (code SU10). All gutter joints must have a 3-4mm expansion gap. Gutters can be installed level or with a slight fall towards the outlets.
Jointing
Our Snap Fit jointing method makes Installation simple, tidy and quick. A bead of our high performance silicone sealant (part code SU1) is applied between the foam spacers within each gutter jointer. The jointers are then simply placed into the top of the gutters and clicked into position.

Frequently Asked Questions About Aluminium Box Gutters
What are aluminium box gutters?
Box gutters are rectangular-profiled systems for high-capacity drainage, often used in modern or commercial buildings. Our 135x100mm version is made from extrusion formed marine-grade 6063-T6 hardened aluminium for durability and efficiency.
What's the difference between box gutters and other profiles?
Box (rectangular) gutters offer higher flow capacity than half-round or ogee, making them ideal for larger roofs. They're sleeker for contemporary designs compared to traditional styles.
How long do aluminium box gutters last?
With proper installation, expect 50+ years. They're rust-proof and require minimal maintenance, outperforming PVC or steel in harsh weather.
Are these gutters easy to install?
Yes—snap-fit joints with silicone (SU1) between foam spacers in jointers, which clip into place at every joint. Directly fixed to fascia through rear at 600mm centres via pre-drilled holes—no brackets needed.
What colours are available for 135x100mm box gutters?
Offered in our standard range of colours, and can also be supplied in any RAL or BS colour code. Lead time is 5 working days for stocked RAL 7016 and 10 working days for all other colours, although we always try to improve on this. Contact us for samples or pricing.
What is the flow capacity of these gutters?
Up to 6.5 L/s at 75mm/hr rainfall, handling roofs up to 333m² per downpipe. Ideal for UK climates.
Do they comply with UK building standards?
Yes, BS EN 12056-3:2000 for drainage and BS 9101:2017 for design/manufacture. Fully recyclable and sustainable with 64% recycled aluminium.
How do I maintain aluminium box gutters?
Clean annually with a soft brush to remove debris. No painting needed initially; repaint after decades if the finish fades.
Why choose aluminium over other materials for box gutters?
Aluminium is lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and cost-effective long-term, without the weight or rust issues of iron or steel.
Why Choose Alugutter's Aluminium Box Gutter Range?
Compared to competitors, our UK-manufactured systems offer better value with extrusion formed marine-grade 6063-T6 hardened aluminium, lead times of 5 working days for stocked RAL 7016 and 10 working days for others (we always try to improve on this), and high-capacity performance. Sustainable with 64% recycled aluminium and backed by expert support.
To compliment our gutter systems in terms of colour and durability we also offer polyester powder coated aluminium fascia and soffit systems in various sizes and profiles. View our Fascia and Soffit systems.
