A landmark rugby tour for one of the region's most historic clubs, as the unbeaten Olney RFC U15s travelled to the Jamor National Training Centre to face Portugal's National U16s.

With a proud 150-year history, Olney RFC continues to develop young talent and uphold the values at the heart of rugby: teamwork, resilience, discipline and commitment. Supporting this tour was a natural fit for Alugutter, reflecting our belief in backing local communities, youth development and organisations built on long-term pride and performance.
The tour took the squad to the Jamor National Training Centre, home of the Portuguese Rugby Federation (FPR), where the boys tested themselves in two competitive fixtures against the older Portugal National U16s team. For an U15 side to face older national-level opposition in such a setting was a remarkable opportunity and a fantastic sporting experience.

A Performance to Be Proud Of
The Olney boys arrived in Portugal in exceptional form, unbeaten in competitive matches in the UK throughout the 2025/26 season. That confidence showed immediately. In one of the tour fixtures, Olney produced an outstanding first-half display to take a 19–5 lead into the break, playing with intensity, structure and belief against a powerful older side.
Portugal rallied strongly in the second half and eventually edged the contest 29–19, but the performance from Olney was a huge credit to the players, coaches and club. Against national-level opposition, in a new environment, the boys showed exactly why they have enjoyed such a strong season.
